Ok so im swapping my 305/700r4 from a 2 barrel setup to a 4 barrel setup. I have a Holley dual plain aluminum intake and an edelbrock 600cfm carb. Can someone help me out with this swap? I need to know what linkage I need for the transmission. Also do I need any other brackets?

My only input is that the TV cable be set perfectly with whatever carb you choose. Obviously the 2 bbl never came with a 700R4 so whatever was done to keep that from frying the transmission that needs to be duplicated. A picture of your current setup would be helpful to see the current hookup.

I will get some pictures soon. And I think the previous owner swapped in the rebuilt 700r4. Along with a motor craft 2 barrel. Which is slightly rigged up. I am using the edelbrock 1405. So where exactly does the TV cable hook up on the carb? And how would I set it up perfectly? Thanks for the input BTW!

I don't have a 700R4 in any of my collection for pictures but there are plenty of members here that will help you out. Because of my bad experience with 700R4's I stay away from them. Currently my 2 automatics are TH400's and my other 3 are stick shifts.

I'm assuming the bottom cable is the TV cable. As you can see the connection is welded on the the carb linkage.

Yes, it is a wonder it worked and your trans is OK. Some one will post the correct bracket for a quadrajet set up eventually.

Go to bowtieoverdrives.com, good place to start. You will burn up your transmission if not set up correctly.

Thanks. So TV cable is really important lol....Now for the intake.

Do i have to remove the distributor completely? Or just the cap?

Distributor has to be removed. When you take it out you will see why.
-
Yeah that's what I thought. Will i have to reset my timing afterwards?

Im not sure but I think I have to put the # 1 piston on tdc then place the distributor back in?

Yes you got this... but make sure it is on the power stroke. It is easy enough to be 180° out

Alright. So are all of my stock bolts gonna work with the Holley intake? And is it OK to use the same thermostat?
