87 Chevy R10 2wd LT1 Swap
« on: August 28, 2019, 01:23:56 PM »
Hello all,

My first post on the forum...I’m swapping a LT1 and 4L60E from a 1995 corvette in my 87 R10 2wd.  Engine and transmission have 24,000 original miles and came with a brand new wiring harness.  Got it for a steal!  I saw another link on the forums for a pdf file from Street and Performance where they swapped a lt1 into a 83 truck.  Does anyone have that pdf saved?  The link no longer works.  Thanks for any help or any swap tips you can provide!

I am swapping a 08 6.2 liter LS3 into my 87 that came with TBI and the engine wiring is confusing.  The T BI was computer controlled and there are lots of wires i dont need.  I bought PSI's wiring harness but I still need to use some of the original wiring.  Did you get any help?

Saw this thread and my ears perked up given i too have an 87. And a longbed.

But no updates after either post. Was curious how the LT1/4L60e worked out as well as MMan and his 6.2 I say this as he mentions the PSI wiring harness which i too am looking at but he stated he had to use wiring off the original harness?

Thats a bit scary. I'm reading up and doing all the research I can.
