We haven't seen much info on diesels in this forum Chuck, but The 6.2 is  compatible with 6.5 parts ( same basic block) and the mechanical injection system is more reliable than the electronic sytem. You probably know the two sites
www.thediselpage
www.thedieselplace
They will provide you with all kinds of info for your swap. Especially the archived threads from the diesel page. Good luck with it. I love my
Duramax and had thought about buying a  late 80's truck with the 6.2. They're getting hard to find..

yeah I love my diesel...27 mpg isn't too rough on the wallet even at 4.55 a gallon...yeah I've looked at those pages briefly, but never thought to look at the archives...that's be my next stop...I figured I'd have more detailed info here because it's a site just for our trucks instead of on all gm diesel site, but I get what you're saying about there not being much info here about diesels...thanks again for the archive tip...

Getting more fuel to the engine should start with the basics- a bigger exhaust system and a better flowing air filter. And of course, a turbocharger. :D That engine doesn't have a cat on it does it? Gotta get rid of the cat to help airflow... Those mods will add more heat to the engine and may require a bigger radiator. But ya can't be faulted for trying to get more power out of the 6.2. They need some help. When the engine breathes better, it brings in more air. More air brings in more fuel, and increases power. Visious cycle. (There goes that 27mpg... probably clear down to 24mpg) You'll need gauges too to monitor egt temps and boost pressure.
Here's a link to help turn up the fuel injector pump-

If you go with 6.5 system you will have to remove or modify your a/c housing, as the 6.5 system was not designed to fit in the 73-87 engine compartment.

gmdiesel.com has forums attended by guys who have done this swap, though. I recommend checking it out.
