Title: Micro flake in alkyld enamel
Post by: lukieg on December 12, 2011, 09:58:55 AM
I have painted a few vehicles with high quality alkyld enamel for farm implaments. It has a high gloss and when used with proper reducer.. it sprays well also.. could a handfull of orange micro flake in a can of orange enamel add some sparkle? or will the paint just cover the flakes and make it rough? Thanks

Depending on the Micron size of the flake it could cause the finish to be rough.  In an orange which typically doesn't hide real well (multiple coats needed to achieve full color) it may add some sparkle.  If it were me and you had access to a grams scale, weigh out how much paint and flake, take that ratio by weight and mix up a couple of ounces and spray it out and see what you get.  My $.02
