Fromt bumper mod
« on: November 19, 2011, 07:28:08 AM »
OK I have a few questions this time. First off will a 81-82 bumper with the square lights in it bolt up to a 86? Also how much do people cut out when they are trying to bring the bumper closer to the body?

Your answer is yes bumpers fit from 81-87 C/K and 88-91 R/V.  Differences is holes for turn signals and trim.  There is a post somewhere that someone has done what you have asked, I will see if I can find it.  Welcome from NW Indiana.

I used the search box and came up with nothing.  I'll keep looking but I know someone on here has already done that modification and has a nice thread on it.

I can remember seeing that but I thought they were talking about a rear bumper.

Front bumper uses the same mounting  on the 81-82 and the 83-87.  How much people trim depends on the specific truck.

It's actually 81-86 C/K 87-91 R/V and how much closer do you want the front bumper?

I have done both front and rear bumpers. I don't remember how much I cut to move the front bumper in.  Depending on how much you want to move the bumper in will determine how much you cut.  Just remember measure twice and cut once.

I looked back in my thread and I stated that I moved it in a little over an inch. If memory serves me correctly I think it was  1 1/8" that I moved it.
