Rear window weather strip
« on: November 21, 2011, 06:16:51 PM »
I'm looking for new weatherstripping for my '86 factory sliding rear window. I can find weatherstripping for the standard glass which also works with most aftermarket sliding windows. Looks like the 84-87 with factory installed slider uses a differant seal, anyone have any info as to where I can find a replacement seal? Checked with the local GM dealership, no luck there.
I would like to find the standard seal without the lock strip.

Thanks in advance.

I think there was a post on this, did you search the forum?
I replaced my factory slider in my 87 and used the same gasket.

Chris,  The factory slider has a very wide channel as the whole outside is the aluminum channel that the glass sits in and there are drain holes on the bottom.  I don't know if they make replacements for the factory glass.

Yep, your right.  It was a different truck with an aftermaket slider.  Just went and looked at the one I pulled and the gasket is still on it.

Aftermarket sliders are actually nicer and not priced too bad. You should look into it.

Thanks for the info. After a closer look at my original seal and some time giving it a good cleaning, I realized it's condition is better than I originally thought. I think I can use the old seal and just get new lock strip or as suggested I might purchase one of the after market sliders.
