NV4500
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:51:07 PM »
I have a 94-95 Chevy 4x4 nv4500 and I have a early style 2wd Cummins nv4500 (the shift tower and shifter is like an old 4 speed style). I've heard of input shafts being swapped and making a Chevy trans work on a Cummins. Just wondering if anyone has personal experience or facts on what can be done and what can't? Is it cheaper to go with the adapters? I just have a lot of parts for 2 different projects and thinking of making one

Pre 96 transmissions need the case bored to accept the dodge input and retainer as well as the input counter cluster gear needs swapped to the 5:1 ratio of the Dodge/ late model.
