Correct air intake decal for 1976 454

1976 Chevy C20 Camper Special Silverado with 454

---

I have the original snorkel air intake, but several years ago a guy I had paint my truck painted over the top of my air intake with textured bed liner paint and ruined my original sticker (ARG ARG ARG).   He was so happy to show me his "cool idea".   I wanted to slap him.  But at least he did a heckuva job on the truck itself so I forgive him.

Anyway, I don't remember what it looked like and now I want to sandblast this sucker off and restore it back to completely original condition.   Can someone post a picture of the correct sticker for the snorkel's 454 decal?

Well it's finally decent weather so I took the cover of the air intake off and began sanding.   I was able to expose an outline of the original sticker and can make out a portion of the last 4 in 454.   It's just a large 454 in an old looking font.   The numbers are too large to have flags above them.   Now I need to see if I can find a decal that looks similar.

Please post a link if you know of any sources for oem looking decals.

Meanwhile I am googling images like crazy.  :)

I'm going to try.   It's very difficult to make out, and I'm not sure my camera will do it justice.   But I might be able to use photoshop to outline what I am seeing.

Okay I have attached a couple of pictures that hopefully helps.

I tried to outline what I was seeing in yellow, to call out the 454.   Vague I know, but this is what I have.

I kinda' figured that was what you were talking about, when I read your first post, earlier.  So, I checked my normal sources shortly after reading your post.  I didn't find anything, but may try a few more places tonight.

'76 and '77 were kinda' strange years for The General.  '76 because of the bicentennial, and '77 because GM seem to fall in love with the color gold.
I spent most of my money on Jack Daniel's, Copenhagen, pocket knives, and 4X4 trucks.  The rest I just wasted.

Looks like someone slapped a sticker on there.

Well this truck has been in the family since it was driven off the lot (even have the original invoice), and I am 100% sure my great uncle that bought the truck didn't add a sticker.   And I am also 100% sure one wasn't added after he passed away.   So that means if one was added, it was done by the original dealer.   Certainly possible.

Dang I wish I had a picture before the painter guy ruined it.

The early 70's corvettes used a large 454 decal, but I think it included a horsepower call out too

The fact that there is orange paint underneath the black is bothering me.   I am now starting to be suspicious that "painter guy" painted it orange and slapped a sticker on there.  Then he saw it sucked and covered it with black primer and black bed lining coating (maybe using texture to hide the fact that he didn't take the sticker off -- lmao).

I painted this yesterday, so I think I will just go with no decal at all.

My 78 has orange/red primer like that color. I'm not sure when they used it

The only decals on the air cleaner that were common were VECI labels. I don't recall seeing anything like that.
