Title: Oil pump going out? opinions
Post by: krazylunatic on July 17, 2008, 02:40:08 PM
Just wanted to c if everyone thinks its the oil pump. Was driving home and out no where oil pressure dropped to zero. Pulled over shut it off checked oil, coolant and all. Started truck back up began driving. mile down the road same thing happened. If i shut it off and restarted it the oil pressue would go up and truck would sound fine then it would just drop again and truck made noises so i had to keep restarting it the whole way home. Oil level was fine when i checked it. Some said possibly a spun bearing but i was told the motor was rebuilt so i dont. Just want opinions

Did you say it made noises when the pressure dropped?

Sounds like the pick up tube fell out of the pump. Overfill it with an extra quart and try to get it to your garage or wherever and drop the pan.

yes noises, but then id shut it off and restart and it would sound fine. Only made noises when oil pressure dropped but if i shut it off and started it back up it be fine for little and sound normal
