Hood Popping
« on: May 02, 2006, 09:20:00 PM »
Driving along and go over a bump and the hood pops up to the safety catch.I used lithium grease on it before I installed it and I've loosened the pin (brought it down) and moved it around (left, right front, back) and still pops.Anyone have this problem before?

you need to adjust your striker on the hood. Loosen the Jam nut and adjust it a little longer.

Hood latch new? if not it might be junk. I played around trying to adjust a few of mine, when I got fed up and put a new one in it fixed the problem.

I'll take it off and remove the grease ,see what happens because it is quite slippery.Maybe too slippery and it shakes easily over the bumps.

Are your rubber bumpers up too high?

Its not that.I've brought the cam nut down a lot with it quite loose and still does it.I've taken it out and removed all the grease at this point ,just gotta go for a test drive.

try checking your release cable , maybe its getting stuck at a point which will release the mechanism. try lubricating the cable .
