I sent on old 4 barrel carb to National Carburetors one time, came back looking brand new and didn't have any problems. That is the 1 and only time I've ever sent a carb out to be rebuilt tho.

Yes:

i was thinking of having one of mine rebuilt, but after shipping costs, it might be the same just to buy one of their reman units.

Another alternative is to get a brand new holley 4175 which is a bolt in replacement for the q-jet, but they are about $480 and i hear the mpg is not as good as the q-jet.

i have Quads from Jet on both my trucks. i got them from Jegs with free shipping. i could have sent them in but like Stewart said after shipping you might be better off just buying one.

they both came with this card about Jet's buy back program. basically you can send them your old Quad and they buy it back to rebuild and resell. but the way it is worded it sounds like they have to be in pretty good shape and neither of mine were. which then leads me to believe that if i would have sent mine in(missing parts ect) they might not have been able to rebuild them then i was out the shipping costs.

sorry for the ramble but thats the stuff i thought about.

all in all i was very happy last spring with both of mine and i am still happy today

weather something im going to suggest is maybe looking into rebuilding it yourself. its more intimidating than really being hard, look up some videos of how to rebuild one extreme 4x4 did one even replaced some bushings while he was in there to fix a common vacuum leak
