ignition buzzer
« on: September 20, 2019, 11:12:30 AM »
I can't figure this out, my key buzzer always worked like this. Function 1  turn ignition on buzzer sounds for a few seconds with the seat belt light, this function still works, function 2  turn ignition off and open door buzzer sounds and reminds you the key is in the ignition this function has changed and works like this turn key off buzzer sounds with door closed. What has changed is the installation of a Dakota Digital dash where I took the seat belt warning light wire and moved it to the Dakota control box, but I don't see how that can effect the original function that would sound the buzzer as soon as the key is off with door closed,  I also installed a cruise control and routed the control cables down the inside of the steering column of coarse to do this I had to disassemble the column including the ignition could I have done something during the column reassemble that would change the buzzer from sounding when the door opens to sounding as soon as key is off??

Check the function of the dual contact door jamb switch.  It sounds like the tan wire from the steering column key warning switch may be constantly grounded.

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!
