I want to install a diesel engine 6,5 instead of 6,2
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:29:33 PM »
Hi! I'm from Russia and my English is bad. Sorry.
I have Suburban-2500 1988 4x4. And I want to install a Hummers diesel 6,5 turbo instead of 6,2. Tell me pls, what have I do to this diesel install? Or this does not make sense?

I would think it would be a easy swap.  Give some time for the diesel experts on here to see your post and they will chime in.  Welcome from California, US.

Welcome to the site. What is the engine sitting in the pic? It looks like a heavy duty shipping crate.

do it i would swap some of the 6.2 parts over to your 6.5 the intake and maybe pulleys a/c pump p/s pump etc.  also looks like the turbo is in back that won't fit were its located

the only thing i can think that might be a problem is the injection pump shut down solenoid it may be 24 volts  you should be able to use the one off your 6.2 note just the solenoid

That's the shipping crate that the US Military ships these motors in.

If your suburban has an A/C (air conditioning) box the turbo will probably interfere with it. Might have to cut a notch or something there. Everything else pretty much bolts right up.

I believe it is a military hummer 6.5 that he wants to put into his truck.

I worry about a control system of the engine and the fuel pump.Is there this diesel engine an electronic control system?
