Header Question
« on: May 30, 2016, 08:21:25 PM »
Guys
I'm eventually going to remove the smog pump and air injection exhaust manifolds off my 84 K2500.  Does anyone make a decent header thats not going to fry starters or make starter changes miserable?

Would hate to create a problem when doing a "upgrade".

Thanks!

Yes, just buy a quality set.

Back in the day I used to run Headman brand long tubes. Great for performance,  terrible for plug changes and cooked starters.  That's what I'm trying to avoid.

I have a set of Hedman's, quality product for sure, starter clearance is good, over all fit is great, they look great buuuuuutttttt, the clearance around the #3 spark plug is terrible, I've ruined a few plug wire boots. If the tube going past the #3 plug had just 1 inch more distance from the cylinder head, they would be the perfect header. I live with just that one malfunction, everything else is cool.

Thanks for your reply. This is a bone stock 350, and what you describe is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

I would look into running shorty headers.

Run Hooker 2452 ("C") or 2453 ("K").

I have 2453 on my K10 with no problems.
