Site Cert
« on: April 11, 2024, 07:04:06 AM »
Any particular reason the forum doesn't have a free letsenrcypt SSL cert?  Browsers are very picky these days about having a cert, and I would think in this day and age not having a cert would kill the ability for people to register or access this site?   I also think you get dinged tremendously in SEO for not having a cert.

Google is pushing for all sites to have https for everything and it does impact ranking, but I really don't care about ranking.
All content on the forum is open and I would hope no one is putting personal info here, the ogin is only required for posting/replying.
Our online catalog IS secure however.
We get about 25 registrations a day, 1/2 being false so there is no issues with people joining or logging in.

Okay, awesome.  I thought some browsers were starting to warn people about sites that don't have SSL, but if you aren't experiencing that or it isn't enough to turn signups away then cool beans!
