Thanks Mike81K10
Yes the countryside is nice specially the Westcoastarea with the Northsea.
I am from Cologne and moved 25 years ago to a small city near Münster as i like the countryside.

We got our M1008 1996 about an trader for army vehicles so that we could purchase directly as first cicilian owner.
This allowed us to prevent any change from the original state. We painted only 1999 in red as a show truck for our company. now it is completely in restoration and will be again army green. The only change is a more powerful engine and transmission and a second tank. Of course also every wearing part will be new from bearings to rubber bushings, brake system and suspension... nothing be untouched. Started by sandblasting frame and all metalparts.
Finally we can buy a new truck for the costs - but it is not the same!

We have a lot of restriction in germany if you do anything on your truck about the roadapproval.
It is a long and expensive way to go this trip.
Any change on the engine result in a complete new confirmation of roadapproval with a lot of test.
I can only avoid a complete new road certification if I reinstall an identical 6.2 engine.

We had talk with the engineer how will do later the confirmation and so we got all the information we need for the purchase of a new engine and transmission.
If everything goes smoothly we should have the truck back on the road by the end of the year, but as we know not everything always goes smoothly I don't expect it before the middle of next year.
Usually it is due to little things. We ordered a complete set of front and rear leaf springs, but one spring was lost during shipping. All in all, it took four months to have all four in the workshop.
