I will be installing a granny 4 speed (SM465) and NP205 transfer case in my truck once I get back from tech school. I will also be removing the engine at the same time. I have found and old 366 chevrolet Tall Deck engine from a bus at a local salvage yard. I can get it for about $200.00. I am trying to build a decent truck for towing and pulling heavy loads. Would this engine be a good choice? 396's, 402's, 427's, and 454's are getting hard to find around here, otherwise I would use one of them.

Sure why not? It's a pretty rare engine to see in one of these trucks too which makes it unique.
-
Most people think that they are useless because they do not rap out very quickly or very high, but they have massive amounts of torque, which is what I want.
-
Most people don't understand that RPMS don't necessarily = more power so the @#%$ with them.
-
If you are doing alot of pulling it would be a great motor.

Dad does not care for them and does not want one in his garage. Can't blame him since I go to tech school next year anyway, oh well, the truck will sit here and I will fix it when I get back. I may buy the engine anyway and store it at a buddy's house.
