gas door location

need any ideas where and how to make a pass side gas door on my 77 truck w/86 bed

Your only real option is the go to a salvage yard.  Get your rechargeable sawzalla and cut a 12 inch by 12 inch area around the gas door of a donor vehicle.

cut the same area  off your bed (minus one inch for overlap) and put the new one in place--overlapping the new door area over your and tack weld in place.  Get all the other hardware from the donor vehicle.

It is not as hard as it seems if you plan on a future paint job of your truck--which i am sure you are--i doubt the new bed fits color-wise.

Just make sure you do like a good carpenter...measure twice, cut once.

Well the bedskins on these trucks are crappy from the factory as it is...Try finding a straight one that will bolt on is a heck of a lot easier then welding in one and expecting it to look good and last. You can always plop a fuel cell in or do a rear tank conversion...

Do you have a left side gas door? Why don't you just move the tank to the left side?
