Where can i get a Factory Wiring Harness?
« on: December 01, 2013, 04:15:59 PM »
I have an 84 gmc high sierra... looked throughout junkyards for an engine harness and have come up with nothing but partials and junk. Is there anyone who sells a factory harness at all for gms/chevy? all i found was up to 72....  Thank you for any help.

Why do you need a factory harness? What happened to yours and what are you trying to do? From what it sounds like your best option may be a painless wiring harness if you are looking for factory style wiring. You can also try junk yards or parts trucks

We sell a 1973-1982 upgrade harness, but unless you need TBI or ESC, it will still work.
We also sell up to 1982 replacement pieces, again, unless you need the ESC or TBI is should work.  The tail, front lighting will be identical.

The universal kit is here and it comes with all of the connectors unlike the Painless (unless they changed) where you have to use your old connectors.

I used a painless wiring harness and it came with most of the necessary connectors that I needed anyway but I'm not running any emissions controls either. When I last looked at AAW all I could find was a universal wiring harness. Glad to see they are still available. Is there a better pic of what's included?

American Auto Wire has complete factory wiring (they own GM's specs for wiring and connectors) for all the 1973-82 trucks and some for other years.  This included the front lighting, engine wiring, dash wiring, rear lighting and tail lamp wiring.

The Upgrade kit is for all 1973-82 trucks and includes all the connectors and wiring...

i just need the engine harness. The one on mine is butchered and im tired of trying to fix it. will the 82's work with an 84? theres not enough detail on the sites i found with the 82's and the pictures to see the connectors arent big enough... and i aint shelling out for a painless... because the price is the exact opposite of the name lol.
