1982 C10 Stepside Rebuild
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:08:31 AM »
I figured i would share my build project and ask for advice. I have 1982 C10 Stepside. My plan is to build from the frame up.
I have already stripped truck to frame, noticed frame was bent. Found a replacement.

I plan on taking this truck out for ice cream and tear intersections up lol. Maybe a show or 2.

Upgrading the suspension. I am interested in the air big systems. I would like to not use the leaf springs. I am looking to have the ability to adjust and have a lower stance. Not wanting to lay frame.
Brand of kits to look at?

I haven't decided on tire size either. I plan on squeezing the widest tire i can up in the rear fender.

I have a rebuilt rear end 3.73 gear, I am going to upgrade to disk brakes.

I am planning on turning my 350 in to 383 stroker.

I haven't decided what to do with transmission. I do miss banging gears... thought about a manual but i don't know much about transmissions.

Air Ride:  What is your budget?  Ridetech has a nice kit if you are not looking to cut up the bed.

Discs:  What is your budget?  CPP and Little shop off the top of my head have complete kits that were priced reasonably.

There's always a budget but I haven't decided on that number yet.

I have looked at the ride tech, and looks nice but i have saw it used on tv shows, is that why it has the price it dose?

Brakes i have looked at SSBC, and wilwood. CPP look nice.

It is priced that high because it includes all the components you need for air ride.  TV doesn't have anything to do with it.  The get the parts practically free.

It has been a while, but I have made some progress. Close to a rolling chassis.

How would one decide on what size of front disc brakes? 1, 2, 4 piston?

Motor plans have changed to a 427 big block
