Title: 4" chop on '90 crew dually window questions
Post by: crewly on November 08, 2011, 12:36:11 PM
Alright so I have been back working on my 90, and I am about ready to cut the roof and start on the chop. My problem is, I don't know what a guy does for the rear door glass? I thought I had it all figured out by buying 1 pc front door glass, and then i looked at the back and realized WTH! lol I am stuck. I know that this is the place to come for wisdom and answers so please any help would be great. I just want to get ready for welding it out before the snow comes!

The one piece kit for the front won't solve the front problem, they won't work with a chopped top.  if you want one piece kit you are looking at a one off custom...  $$$$  You are better off with the factory glass and cut the doors in the vertical plane.

I had figured if I used the one piece kit it would be just like every other chop in that I could still use the windows, just not roll them up all the way. My problem is all the triangular windows. What  do you mean cut the doors in a vertical plane?

If you use the one piece kit you will have to lay the door post where the Vent window is WAY down to match the angle of the one piece and at some point the whole pillar would have to move.

The factory glass basically goes straight up and down and it is square, if you cut it to where you just don't have to roll it up as much you just have to cut down the vent glass.

There is no way you can use a factory replacement one piece kit on a chopped top...  This should give you an idea of what I mean:  This is mine rolled down.  Note that the rear doesn't move that much, the front drops..
