Wiper Switch Wiring

(1/1)

ssdents:
I have an '82 C10. I replaced the wiring harness with an American Autowire harness. However, I didn't follow directions and didn't keep the original pigtail for the wiper switch. I'm having a very difficult time sourcing one. Is it possible to solder the wires directly to the switch?

Thanks.

VileZambonie:
What did you do? Throw the wiring harness away?

ssdents:
That's an affirmative. I realize it was dumb.

For grins I went to the NAPA site to see what sort of engineering heck happened back then and, my, uh... are you good with a soldering iron? Maybe solder short pigtails to each pin and use spade connectors or whatever to hook into the harness. I can't say whether or not extended periods of high current demand might not melt the solder and possibly cause other, bigger problems.

Or find a parts truck with one in it and sell the parts truck again for what you paid...

I did compare it to my '79 and without double checking I think they are similar. All that to say check what other years use the same part and that will give you the right vintage to be hunting down. Maybe it will be several years worth?

VileZambonie:
Just find someone parting out one you need and solder in the pigtail.
