« on: February 21, 2003, 04:09:00 PM »
They any good? Looking for something to replace my worn out glass pack something to give me a nice rumble to. I know I know flowmaster is better but 40$ per muffler better?

I had a set of 3" dynomax's on my 66 Caprice 2dr hardtop big block car a few years back. I thought they sounded OK but didn't have the ring that a chambered flowmaster has. I ended up with the flowmaster's, it didn't run any better but sounded sweet. Nothin' like a lopey big block and a good set of flow's!!!!!

I had an S-10 w/ a 3.4L (no, not 4.3L), no muffler, and a gutted cat that was LOUD AS heck but sounded really good.  I put a Dynomax Super Turbo, a couple 15" pieces of tailpipe, and a turn down to shoot the hot air at the ground instead of my under-bed spare.  It sounded just like it did with no muffler just at a MUCH more tolerable volume.  It did get a little louder after a while but not bad.  I really like them.  I ordered mine from Jegs and used just the regular exhaust clamps and put everything together myself for $60 and maybe an hour.  Great mufflers.  Also I had a buddy w/ a 13-second Dakota and a buddy w/ a 87 Mustang 5.0 and both swore by Dynomaxes.  Both bought Flowmasters to begin with and ended up ripping them off in favor of the Dynos.

I've got two Dynamax mufflers on my 85k10 with out cats. When I bought my truck it had dual 2in exhaust with messed up glasspacks that popped bad, so I had some Dynamax mufflers slapped on at the muffler shop and never cared about the sound with my 305, but recently I cut my tail pipes off and put some turn down pipes about 18inchs behind my mufflers right infront of my rear axle and it sounds cool... for a 305.

I'm use to the sound of my 327 with headers and glasspacks on my 65 3/4ton my 305 sounds wimpy.

I dont run any cat and ill be putting headers on currently i dont have any tailpipe (fell off when offroading) but i need it cause it keeps all the exhaust trapped under the bed when its idle. I think anything would sound better than the dumb glass pack. The darn thing got quieter instead of louder. Maybe i will try them. My truck never operates over 3000 RPM unless im giving second gear heck or doing 90 MPH. So it may give me the sound Im looking for and still not wake the neighbors.

Im runnin a pair of 2.5" Dynomax turbos behind my 454. I like em better on the street than flowmaster. alot less noise & from what Ive experianced no change in power.
Ive always felt if its gonna be that dang loud, it better be fast. & my much less noisy trucks runs pretty strong
