silicone vs paper gasket
« on: November 05, 2012, 05:57:30 PM »
i just installed a new cam, and i have to replace the gasket on the timing cover and i was wondering if using RTV silicone would do trick or should i go out and buy a gasket for it... usually they are paper gaskets....for the oil pan i´ve used the cork gaskets with a little silicone on both sides and never had a problem... what do you guys usually do for gaskets.... thanks...

Use a good RTV but be careful because the strong adhesive RTV's will make taking the cover back off a bit tricky.
