Need Help on instalation

I instaled my cd deck, and i have one problem, when I turn off my truck the cd deck losses all the memory and preset stations I had, it wont save them. My guess was that it was the ingnition wire, but I don't know where to connect it to. I have a 86 ford ranger and if anybody knows what to do please help

David, this is really an odd forum for a question on a "Blue Oval" truck but here's the easiest way for you to go. Get down to your local parts place and pick up a $5 test light. Pull the radio BACK out of the dash and find your old harness. You'll need to probe the ends of the harness until you find a wire that has battery power on it all the time...not switched by the ignition switch. This will keep the memory for your radio energized for you. The only alternative is to find another source at the fusebox for continuous power. Good luck and remember to splice them wires and tape 'em up when your done....electrical fires are bad....mmmmmkay?? Bill
