filling roof cavity with automotive foam
(1/1)
pholliday1:
crewcab roof had exterior damage( belonged to roofing contractor looks like they specialized in 3 story roof jobs) pushed out most dents filled the creases with plastic. The question is has anyone heard/had experience with using automotive urethane/foam to inject in cavity to give support to roof? some reseach turned up some products from 3m but have had no experience with that. If I so much as breathe on roof it wants to buckle back down.
Captkaos:
I wouldn't do it. It could potentially trap moisture and cause it to rust.

Just picked the most recent copy of 4wheel and off road and there doing an article on converting a new jeep (brand new) and with a kit, turning it into a pick up. In the process they are disassembling and seperating the brand new sheet metal and in the photos and captions they show where jeep has used a large amount of this automotive foam between the panels to fill some of the voids.... very interesting will do more research and see if i can get some answers.
