Yes, another "will it fit" thread

Hey guys, newbie to the group. Looking to run a 295/50/15 on a 87 step side. Plan to lower it 4/6. All I`ve seen says a 15x10 with a 5" backspacing will fit but the wheels I want to run are available in a 4.5" or a 5.5". Guess I could use a spacer on the 5.5" backspacing but prefer not to. Its not going to be a hot rod. Just a daily driver. Really like the look of 245/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear so hoping one of these wheels will work for me. Thanks

I'm looking to fit the same combo on my 77. I fabbed up a tool to check clearances and it looks like the 295-50 on a 10x15 with a 4.5 backspace will fit, but JUST barely. plenty of clearance on the inside, very close on the outside. My truck is lowered 4.5 and 6 as well. One of my neighbors is running this combo on a 72 with widened bed tubs. I'm going to measure the actual width of the mounted tire to get a definitive answer. I'll post the result soon.

My truck is a fleetside by the way. Stepside fender clearance may be different.

A 33" diameter tires is what it is. Right???

Yup, a 33" tire is 33" in diameter. Different brands may be 33" in diameter but may vary in actual mounted width. Rim widths may also affect actual mounted widths. On a lifted truck not much of an issue. On a truck with a 6" drop exact fit can be critical. On mine for example a difference of 1/4" backspace or 1" tire section width will make or break fitment of a 295/50 tire. That's why I need to measure the actual mounted width of my neighbors' wheel/tire combo. I like a lot of sidewall though so I'll probably end up with a 275/60 on a 10" wheel with 4.25 backspace which I KNOW will fit. Course the 4.25 backspace means going with a totally different wheel. Now if this kid will just park his truck out front so I can measure his 295's...

So turns out the actual mounted section width of a 295/50/15 BF Goodrich T/A on a 10" wheel is 12.5 inches. Too wide to fit under my truck with a 4.5" backspace and no fender mods. 275/60's comin up.
