Fresh Air Vent Door
« on: March 26, 2022, 02:24:54 PM »
Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far.  Got a question about the fresh air vent door on my 86 c-10.  It's located on the passenger side kick panel.  number one, my door is not opening and closing when I put the controls on vent, not sure how to fix or even what the problem may be.  if it can be fixed, great, but if not is it possible to replace it with a manual opening door?  It looks like the plastic panel allows for a shaft and knob or is at least molded that way, but there is a metal plug in where the shaft would come through.  Any help with this situation will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

Jeff

If there's no cable it's controlled by a vacuum motor, or diaphragm piston. Look for a leak, broken or disconnected vacuum line. Maybe even the vacuum from the motor to it's reserve canister located on the firewall.
