rear end/yoke
« on: March 30, 2007, 11:20:00 AM »
Hi I have a 74 suburban with a 3 in the tree 2wd. I had a new rear end put in 6 mos ago and it blew quickly after. I was told it was the wrong one. So I had another put in and the u-joint doesnt line up with the yoke? I dont want to keep buying stuff that doesnt fit. Should I get another differential or try to get the right off set u-joint?  TIA

Well, you have several options.

Pull the rear end yoke off the old rear to see if it will work on the new one

or:

grap the driveshaft off the donor vehicle--if it isn't long enough for your sub, you can take it to a shop and have it extended, or just get one made for the new rear--that'll match your tranny.
