Where does this go? Took truck apart 10 years ago forgot where it goes? Picture kinda shrunk it actually longer.
-
I'm guessing the steering column?
Hopefully someone that knows will chime in soon.

If it's about 2" in diameter and 3" long, it is a heat shield for the engine oil pressure sender.
-
I do not think it goes around sender. I think it is a heat shield going down right side rear near exhaust?
-
Yes it’s the heat shield for the oil pressure sending unit. I changed my OPS not too long ago on my ‘87 and it was exactly like that.

Did they change the location of the sending unit that year? Historically to the right of the distributor.
-
Yes they did. I crawled under the drivers side and it was right by the exhaust manifold. Hence the need for the heat shield.

The 1987 dash gauge OPS threads into the left side of the block down near the oil filter, adjacent to the exhaust.

Ok thanks I will look in to it.

is it me, or does FRT> indicate the front of the engine?
If so we must be looking at a Chrysler, no?
Or maybe it's missing a letter, like A... ::)

When you fart near the front of the engine, the fan will carry the smell in the direction of the arrow.

Ah right?! Into the Fart Receiving Tunnel!!
Good one VZ! 8)
