I'm not familiar with the turbo appl.  What did it come off originally or is some burning a chip for the application?

The ECM was used on the Syclone/Typhoon/Turbo Sunbird.

Sunday January 6th, 2008: "rebuilt" a 1985 HEI unit from a Z28 so I can keep my current connections.  Now I just have to make an adapter to connect the 85 big cap HEI with the 87-95 HEI...

Isn't the distributor you put rebuilt a 4 wire ESC? Why not just use a newer distributor?

It is the computer off a 85 Z28 with Tuneport.  Its a 7 pin module not a 4 pin.  I didn't want to spring for an Accel or MSD yet until I get the turbo on it..

I meant it had the 4 wire pigtail that goes to the ESC module not the dist module. Sorry for the confusion.

Saturday January 13th, 2008: Found out the Large cap HEI won't fit with the rear exit fuel lines.  Thought I had enough room but didn't...

Monday January 21st, 2008: picked up a 91 small cap distributor.

1) My brother sells STS turbo kits via www.gracemotorsports.biz
2) They have unlimited operational range, and I can control it with just a wastegate.
3) Power potential is higher than a supercharger
4) I love the way they sound

This is my twin brothers 2000 RCSB with stock 5.3L and a STS remote turbo... (1/4mile was 12.28...@ 109.95mp)
http://www.gracemotorsports.biz/video/JCfreakvsSRT10Extd.mov

It now has a 6.0L in it and a bigger turbo housing...

Good points!!

I am partial to the mad max look - Big supercharger sticking out of the hood :D

I don't know much about turbos except they get their power from the exhaust.  Did you need larger injectors? How did you put it all together(design wise)?  Is your brother helping you?  I wouldn't know where to begin.

GREAT video - WOW!!  Thanks

I didn't build this motor with the intention of putting a turbo on it.  But I don't plan to put more than about 7lbs to it (maybe 10lbs once :D)
It does have low compression pistons which is required for any supercharging (turbo or blower) but I would feel better with forged pistons.
It does need larger injectors (It has 42lbs in it now)

He isn't helping me on this one, his company is basically a partnership between us.  He does the ECM tuning for the 99-up trucks, and I will be using it when I twin turbo my 73-87chevytrucks pickup as it has a 6.0L/4L80E out of a 2000 pickup...

You can put a turbo on just about anything if you don't plan to go overboard.  They should be able to take about 5lbs in a driver...  I wouldn't attempt a carb'd turbo app though.  Mainly because I don't like carbs.

thats awsome that ur going to be running a turbo. ive been looking into it recently and thinking about getting a small turbo and fab up all the pipes for it myself or if i can, ill buy some turbo headers instead of building them. are you going to be running it under the truck like the sts kits or under then hood? before i attempt this i need to get my new engine first lol. i definitely want more info on this project haha
