Serpentine System complication!
« on: October 02, 2014, 05:11:55 PM »
Ok, I need some help here.
I have this system (pictured below) on my motor, the ac compressor, on the top left is installed, but wont't be hooked up as I planned on not hooking up the AC until next summer.  As I have to buy several new parts to make sure it's properly working.
So I called the manufacturer (Billet Specialties) and they said DO NOT do that! It will burn out the compressor in like 10min.  And they don't have any pulleys I can put in place of the compressor and keep that system intact.
Anyone have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions??
Thanks.

Got this figured out, going to order a different pulley and shorter belt and I should be good to go, maybe have to change the alternator bracket, but waiting to hear back.

What kind of compressor is it?

Unless you run electricity to the compressor clutch it should be nothing more than along for the ride.....a gigantic, sophisticated, idler pulley if you will.

Running it without being hooked up shouldn't hurt a thing as long as you don't have the clutch engaged.
