oil dipstick question
« on: August 18, 2005, 02:50:00 AM »
Hi everyone,

So I've been working on this engine building project since January and now I'm getting down to the devilish details.

There is this oil dipstick guide that fits flush into the block and extends into the oil pan area. But now the tube that holds the actual dipstick can not fit in to this guide. I don't remember how it was before. Any help?

Thanks!
Sam

The guide piece should be part of the dipstick tube.  There should be a bevel on the tube that limits the depth of the tube.

Yeah what he said. It is broken off in the block.>:  Get a new dip stick. If the oil pan is on it you can thread a bolt in the tube and either pry it out or use a slide hammer to snatch it out.
