Custom Autosound truck radio died. What now?
« on: June 07, 2020, 07:30:16 PM »
My truck's Custom Autosound truck radio died today and as I pulled it out of the truck the amp it felt pretty light and cheap along with the plastic knobs.
This radio came with the truck when I have purchased it in 2014 and the radio gave me problems during its uses.

Are Custom Autosound radio built the same now or have there been some improvement?
Are there another manufactures that make Chevy truck radio without modding?
Thanks, Chuck

The site store sells factory lookalike RetroSound that doesn't require cutting the dash.  Email any questions to Captkaos at webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com.

I put the factory AM Radio and center speaker in my 74. This preserves the look and function of the factory unit but I am also putting in custom speakers, amplifier and just running a bluetooth receiver hidden in the center console. This allows you to listen to anything you want without hacking up your dash. Retro radios work too but if you want to keep a factory radio in place, the stealth option is the way to go.  8)

I have a Pioneer Supertuner that does not require any mods or cutting. It is an older style that fits right in. I bought it many years ago and it still works. As bd said, I would look at the the site store.

I installed a Retrosound into my 1980 Suburban over 5 years ago and have been very happy ever since. In fact, the current models with additional features (like BlueTooth) are attractive enough to me I may spend the money on an upgrade. I can think of no higher praise.

Look at Isimple products.
They have several ways to add aux. to factory radios.
