interior door handles

Hey Guys,

So I want to use the earlier chrome interior door latch handles from 73-76? era in my '77 truck.  I kinda don't like the plastic door handles that are currently in there and I think I'm ok to swap over to the earlier version.  With the doors basically being the same I'm assuming the mount bolts are in the same spot and of the same pattern?  The openings in the door panels look to be about the same as well so?  Any help would be appreciated on this subject!  I'm also in the market for a NOS or MINT set of interior handles.  I tried to order them from USA-1 and they are back ordered with an unknown delivery date.

There are 3 versions of door handles all are specific per the door panel.  you can see all of them here.

73-76 has the arm at the top
77-80 hs the arm offset bottom middle and is wide
81-87(91) hs them at the bottom
All of these are specific to the door panel opening.

Can you use them, yes but not without them either looking out of place, and modifying the openings..

Wow!  That's a great batch of information! 

Ok, well I will see what happens when the parts finally arrive.  I have new doors on the truck and they seem to be correct for 1977 on up.  The door panels I ordered are also for this era so they will fit and work perfectly with my regulators etc.  I might have to settle for the 77 door handles but it really looks like the offsets etc are in the same direction as the early versions as compared to the mounting holes etc.  But I trust you more than me on this as I'm green to the whole deal.  If I can at least eliminate the crappy 1977 window crank handle it will be a good start. ;-)
