FlameProof Coating my exhaust headers

I found a really cool product -- VHT SP102 FlameProof Coating Flat Black Paint Can

The idea is you spray this on your exhaust headers and then it creates a ceramic coating. There are specific instructions you must follow to make sure the ceramic coating cures properly.

However, it's a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!! :-(

What are the special instructions.  Cranking it and getting it hot is going to be an uneven dry.  I would think they would have you put them in an oven or something.

Those products are crap. It's worth it to get a true thermal barrier coating done professionally. It will also help your headers last much longer and they also look nicer. I did my entire exhaust system on my 74. Well worth the spend

Prepare the headers: clean thoroughly, use steel wool to remove any surface rust, finally clean with a grease and wax remover.

Paint headers: I gave mine several coats and let them dry over three days (I live in Arizona, so there's zero humidity)

Cure the ceramic coating: make sure headers are dry, then install them onto the engine. Idle for 10 minutes, let cool 20 minutes. Then, idle for 20 minutes, let cool 20 minutes. Finally, drive for 30 minutes.

I am not a fan of VHT in any of their products either I might add. I think all of their stuff is lacquer based too iirc

Honestly I'd have to look for receipts. Can't remember
