Hey guys got a 81 Scotty 400sbc w/th400tranny

It stalls out in reverse or drive got a pro comp thumpa can with msd ignition a new 600cfm elderbach idles great.
Where to start trouble shooting had all this in it when I bought it so anyway any help? Thanks

What's the ignition system you're using and what are your settings?

Good question it’s a msd billit distributor unsure of settings but the plugs are wet fouled.dont wanna change them till I get the setting right

Check for  mechanical advance at idle, possible is in too early and dropping out when placed in gear and lowering rpm to low causing stalling.

How to check it, man  I’m learning mechanics since I bought this truck
Has not been driven much since I got it back in sept last year it will fire and idle great just the stalling then when it dies I have to floor it to get it to start,

Engine stall

In reverse and drive after idle warm up
Has a 400sbc th 400 tranny elder600cfm carb so what are the possible causes.?it also has small lift thumper can and a 2200 stall and msd billet distrubor (don’t know settings) it   Was all in Truck when purchased. Don’t have any mechanic friends so I really don’t know where to start.
