First post on this forum so I hope it's helpful. I'm looking for a new or remanufactured 350 small block that's not tooo pricey. My engine blew and I need a replacement asap. I want something good for a daily driver so nothing too crazy, but also nothing stock. Any recommendations on places online or somewhere in southern california? I see goodwrench has some new crates but are they any good? Has anyone owned the 290 HP goodwrench? Also I've seen this place called West Coast Engines (http://www.westcoastengines.com/) has anyone bought from them or known someone who has bought from them? Their prices are good, and I kinda want to pull the trigger but I'm not sure if its worth it because I haven't found to many reviews on them.
Thanks!

Ya brother thats me, i took the advice from one of the best chevy mechanics on earth. Best place, best price. I had to do the 18 months no interest deal. No problem. Here ya go...

Jegs right now is $1460 free shipping for that engine:

With a nice dual-plane manifold (Edelbrock 2101 or 2701 depending on carb) and some Hooker headers (2452 or 2453 depending on 2WD or 4WD), you get 260 hp and nice torque.
The 290 hp Goodwrench engine 12499529 has a misfit cam out of a 1960s engine with high-compression heads; with low-compression heads it can't get out of its own way at low rpm. It's a wind-up toy, and no good for a truck. You would need a high-rpm stall converter if you don't want to help push it started off the line. BTDT.
If you want something more than the 350/260, there are modern cam options that can increase torque, or horsepower, or both, but they will void the warranty. BTDT, too.

Same engine, good deal.

I'll just echo the sentiments above in favor of that GM Crate Engine from Jegs. I put one in my 76 a couple of years ago, and it has been great so far.

I went with summit because i also ordered a ton of accessories. All no interest, no tax and free shipping. All arrived in a couple days, no issues. Peace of mind goes a long way.

Thanks for the input! i think I'm gonna get that goodwrench with some headman headers and edelbrock intake and carb! we'll see how it goes

Edelbrock 1406, I assume? Google my last name and Edelbrock and look up my tune. It's probably the best place to start.
