What am I missing?
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:39:17 PM »
While I have the whole front clip off my truck and am piecing together for my LS swap i decided that my firewall is gross. While the smooth firewall and hiden wires is what i want I just dont see how you can still utilize the heater. I am going to get rid of the A/C but i think that heat would be something I dont want to get rid of. So Im just no seeing how you can get this done unless you swap in a heater box thats completley under the dash? Any suggestions? Anyone done this?

As far as I know, everyone who smoothed out their firewall either did away with the heater box, or moved under dash like you said.

Could you put a 90 on the pipes behind the firewall and run them out the bottom of the cab?

yeah funds are limited. I havent checked out Hot Rod air but I did find a vintage air compact units Vintage Air 506101 and 50515. the first one is about $230 with a heater and defrost options and the second one is a heater only unit for $160. Comes with controls and all. Looks to be the best option from what I can find.
