relay kit

Hey guys i got my relay kit in and put in some Hella H4 headlights
they look great. Im just wondering if i need to throw some fuses in the harness. I read a link that captkaos linked in someone elses poste about headlight upgrades but the write up was on a home made relay kit so im not sure if the kit is different and doesnt need to have fuses. If it does what size wire and fuses should i use?

when i did mine i ran the power right from the battery, and put in fuses, i figured if the lightes ever grounded its better to fuse it then to let it burn. if i recall i used a 30A fuse for each system, one for each hi beam and low, and i used 10 gauge wire. One of the best choices ive made to have amazing headlights on old Blue.

Fuse it. If something goes wrong the wires will melt and possibly catch fire if there's no fuse.

+1 for fuses. I picked up two inline spade type fuseholders from the local parts store and IIRC I put a 15A in each. I used ring terminals from the junction block on the firewall then through the fuseholders, into the harness and then mounted the relays on the drivers side inner fender. It's a very worthwhile upgrade.

Im not verry knowledgeable about wiring
im not quite sure what wire the fuse goes in. should i put the fusees in the wires that draw power from the battery?

You'll have 2 wires that go to the power source. You want the fuse as close to the power source as possible. In my case, I used the junction block on the firewall as a source instead of the actual battery, so I attached the fuseholders right to the source and then connected it to the main power wires.

That is odd, my kit from the same company came with a fuse.

OK I was wrong. The leads just had ring terminals so I cut them off and wired in a fuse. It has a 25 amp fuse now. Dunno if that is too big or not.
