Front axle
« on: December 02, 2016, 08:05:56 AM »
My truck when the front axle gets on a angle it seems to grind, not sure what is wrong with it exactly. Thinking that it may be the axle shafts.
I believe the axle is a corporate 10 bolt, it is on an 84 so I think it is the 30 spline because the axle shaft just doesn't pull right out.
Just looking for what to do as to diagnosing the problem not sure if I should attempt to get axle shafts out or pull cover and look at the gears or just get another axle. I have another 84 with a good front axle but haven't looked at it close enough yet. Just looking for a low cost idea because the truck pretty rusty and tired.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thatnk you.

How much angle are you talking about?  If something is grinding is it inside the 10bolt?  The axles are supported so grinding would be limited unless something is broken.

Is this truck lifted? And if so  what condition are your shackle bushings. The spring eyes can actually rub the frame under flex and cause a noise.
