clutch plate direction

hey guys im new here but i finally am getting around to putting an enigne in my 78 Jimmy its a 400 SB and its going up to the 3 sped manual trans but what i can figure out is which way the clutch disc is supposed to face? there the side that the springs are offset in the hub and the otherside is flat except for the input sleeve is sticking a half inch out, thanks

the sleeve faces out.  It should be marked with "flywheel" somewhere..

The flatter side goes towards the flywheel. The damper should face the pressure plate.
