Modified header collector, more power?
« on: September 04, 2013, 11:17:05 AM »
I read an article about headers, and one topic covered was modifying the header collector length to gain power. They describe it as a "try and see" approach, but I figured i'd ask around here first to see if anyone has had any luck with something like this. Right now i'm running Hooker Competition 4-1 long tubes (unsure of the stock collector length) on a stock GM crate 350.

It might be fun to experiment, but I think you are splitting hair for an otherwise stock powertrain configuration.  Unless you are dialing in under strictly controlled conditions, such as a race track environment, I doubt you will notice a difference.

Not online, I read it in the October issue of Popular Hot Rodding. It was called 'The heads up on headers'.
