Won't Start

I spent the past few months reuilding a 350 for my 81 K10.  New plugs, wires, rotor, cap, rebuilt holley 4160 carb, new cam, rings, lifters, crankshaft, all bearings.  I have spark at the plugs, gas in the fuel bowls, valve timing correct, but it won't start.  It turns over and tries to fire, but won't.  It did run for about 10 seconds but won't stay running. What should I check next?

My first guess, which is common when putting a distributor in, is the distributor could be 180 degrees off....trying to fire on the exhaust stroker versus intake valve stroke.  It can run very very rough for a short time.

Hopefully all the cranking of the engine wont hurt your camshaft.  That has to be broken in correctly w/ loads of squirting oil in the top half of the engine......that's why you break in an engine initially at 2000 rpms for 20 minutes right from the get go. Otherwise, not enough oil gets to the camshaft.
