86 GMC project Plow and Pull
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:42:30 PM »
This is my not in a hurry project. Its an 86 GMC. I plan on using this for pushing snow and pulling my boat. It will pick up speed once I sell off other toys. Right now the carb is funky and likes to foul out the plugs. Someone has messed with the emissions on it, so I think there is some vacuum leaks to add to the carbs woes.

First thing I would replace are those auto-locking hubs.....I have never had good luck with those. Just my $.02. But it looks like a good start to a project.

Good point, I should have a set this weekend. I did paint the roof, the sun baked the paint off which is pretty good in Mich. The hood is next.  Still working on selling off other toys so I have capital to use on this.

Picked up a used set of Spicer hub, for free. And got  tach cluster about free. Now the cluster needs work but I think I am still ahead.

Traded a dirt bike for a set of aluminum wheel and tires. I gotta get a set of lug nuts before I can install.

My dad stopped over and we messed with removing the emission stuff. We think we found a reason why the truck was running so badly. Needless to say, it runs so much better now.

Yeah Let me go dig some up. The floor of the bed is good. The seat is ok except on the drivers side. The underside of the truck looks beat because it was used as a plow truck for some time.

I got back from South Carolina with my "parts truck"  Its an 81 Chevy 2wd long bed. I will use most of it, not the cab, and craigslist the rest.  Pics to come.
