Title: Need part number for valve seals
Post by: dumbucket1 on August 30, 2007, 03:03:14 PM
all of my trucks with the exception of the 07 sierra smoke on start up. I want to replace the valve seals on my 76 silverado daily driver and hopefully that will fix the smoke on start up with this truck. I keep reading people prefer some other seals over umbrella. Anyone have a part number for those seals and will they go right on without any type of machining? Thanks

positive seals sit directly over the guide and squeegee the oil away from the guide while umbrellas move up and down with the valve. I don't think anyone can give you a part # since you didn't list the specifics about your engine.

engines are posted in signature. All are 350's all stock. The motor in the 76 truck came out of a 76 camaro which is a 350 all stock.

Any autoparts store will give you the choice. Also you can use the orings along with the positive seals

no the pimple faced kid at autozone just gave me a blank stare for even asking for the seals to begin with. A lot of times I just walk in with part numbers in hand its alot easier. I guess I can go a few miles up the road to a napa.

They couldn't get them for you? They list them on NAPA, Autozone etc

 Item#: PC VS63

I don't know if they could get them or not. Would using those seals you have pictured require any modifications before putting them on? If not I will try them on one of my other trucks.

No modification at all.  Use those on the intake valves as well as o-rings and use umbrellas on the exhausts with o-rings.  That is how I do mine every time and they work great.
