78 C10 CAN I CHANGE OIL PUMP WITH ENGINE IN TRUCK
« on: June 07, 2019, 05:09:57 AM »
Hello,
I have a 1978 2wd Chevy c10 v8 305
It has low oil pressure, warmed up at idle 5 or less
I know it may be bearings, or something else. It has 130k miles on it.
But if I could change the pump out pretty easy, would love to give it a shot. The two piece rear main seal also leaks a bit, maybe could swap that out at the same time?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks in advanced

Check it with a mechanical gauge. If you take the oil pan off, you'll be able to take some rod caps off and look at the bearings. Bearings aren't that expensive, you could change them if they're worn and you can't rebuild right now. Yes you can change the seal.
