Dollar value of K20 diffs?

I'm looking to buy a used set of 3/4 diffs with detroit lockers off a parts truck, and the seller has no idea what they are worth and told me to get back to him with an offer. Gear ratio is unknown, but this doesn't actually matter to me either. What shall I offer?

Look around your area, or nearest you can find of like axles, then since you do not know what the ratio is, offer what you are willing to pay and see if he will take it.

Like Irish said, how does he know they have Detroits?
I would verify first. Real easy to tell in the front with the cover off, but hard to tell in the rear of a 14-bolt.
The Detroit Locker for a 14-bolt uses the differential case that originally held the open differential's spider gears. You could have a set of welded spider gears and no way of knowing without taking it all apart.
There are slots in the 14-bolt's differential case that you can see through, but somebody who is handy with a welder and a grinder can make it look like it has a locker in it.

The owner could have had a shop put in Detroits in the axles and never really cared about or knew much about gear ratios.

I'm thinking so, he seems like the kind of guy who just bought parts blindly for the sake of having them. He's selling 2 complete trucks and a parts list with - I kid you not - enough spare parts to build a complete 3rd truck, so I doubt even he knows what he has. Thanks.
