Dash Pad
« on: March 07, 2019, 05:06:53 PM »
Can anyone recommend a replacement dash pad for my '83 C10?  I've heard horror stories about some not fitting right, especially around the gauge cluster.

Thanks

John

All I can tell you is I did not want to mess with the repro ones. I sent mine to Just Dashes in southern calif. They rebuilt mine from the ground up. It is near perfect and just like the factory would have made it. It will cost you about a thousand dollars or so. They take your core and strip it down and start with the metal frame. they use the same process as the original manufacturer. Check them out online they have some videos you can watch of how they do it

Thanks.  I checked into shipping the dash off.  I think that's the surest thing, but my truck is not a high dollar truck.  So that leaves me with repro, which I'm not against, but don't want to be staring into these huge gaps around the gauges every time I drive it.

Is there a guarantee with the ones sold here?

Thanks again

John

I used the plastic overlay and it’s fine

You gotta trim some from around the edges but it looks fine

Looks a whole lot better than the old one that was split in a dozen places

I bought mine for a 76 from Classic industries for about 317. It was really good. Nice firm fit with little trimming.

Thanks for all of your help. I ordered a new pad and it is perfect.

Is there a market for old, cracked dash pads?  Or just toss it?

Well, according to the rules of this forum the name of the company is restricted.  But they are well known.

Maybe the rules need to be updated? I see company names quite often, and they have been quite helpful, as the 'store' does not have an exhaustive inventory. Not that it needs one  ;)

its not just that any companies are not permitted, just one particular that is restricted from being mentioned.
