87 tbi running rich
« on: January 14, 2013, 04:22:03 PM »
 >:(

1987 chevy freshly rebuilt 350 bored .40 over with less then 200 miles on it

my oil pressure gauge and my temp gauge are not working.
i have a good understanding on why my oil pressure gauge isnt working.
i read on a couple google searches that the cts sensor controls the a.f ratio. i cant find any grounds from the wiring harness that are loose as to what the searches told me. i read 1.9 ohms off my sensor. i cant seem to find out whats going on and figured other people prob had the same problem. thank you in advance for any help you guys can give me.

Sounds to me like you have some bad connections. Check to ensure the proper connectors are seated on the terminals. Ground locations near t-stat and back of cylinder heads are good?

i put a cts sensor in on the side of the head, i have a valid reading on my gauge but the quality of running hasnt changed at all. now i have true duals with no cat with the 02 sensor highest on the collector of the header as i can get. idk if it matters but the 02 sensor is on the passenger side header instead of the driver side where the original location was. that was a fopa on my part but i ran with it. im completely mechanically inclined to fix this im just lost and not sure where to check now. my 2 grounds are grounded   so thats not an issue.

The sending unit in the head is for the gauge only. The Engine coolant temp sensor is in the intake manifold. Did you scan it? Is the MAP sensor hose connected to vacuum at the tbi?

that would make sense as to why the running quality didnt change. im gonna have to figure out which plastic piece is the map sensor and get back to you. i know since i took all of the egr equipment out i have a vacuum line end that was plugged. that was the only issue i had in which a vacuum line couldnt be disconnected
